CV Sections Guide
Your CV is organized into different sections that help you structure your professional information. You can customize which sections appear on your resume and reorder them to highlight what matters most.
Available Sections
Personal Information
Your contact and professional identity details:
- Full Name - Your name (required)
- Email - Your email address (required)
- Phone - Your phone number (optional)
- Location - City, state, or country (optional)
- LinkedIn - Your LinkedIn profile URL (optional)
- Website - Your portfolio or personal website URL (optional)
- Professional Summary - A brief overview of your background and goals (optional)
Experience
Your work history and professional background. For each position, add:
- Job Title - Your role or position (required)
- Company - Employer name (required)
- Location - Where you worked (optional)
- Start Date - When you started (required)
- End Date - When you left (optional; leave blank if current)
- Current Position - Check this if you're still in this role (optional)
- Description - Your responsibilities and achievements. Use bullet points for clarity (optional)
Education
Your academic credentials:
- Degree - Degree name (e.g., Bachelor of Science) (required)
- School - School or university name (required)
- Location - Where the school is located (optional)
- Start Date - When you started (required)
- End Date - When you graduated (optional)
- Field of Study - Your major, concentration, or focus area (optional)
- Description - GPA, honors, relevant coursework, or other details (optional)
Certifications & Licenses
Professional certifications or credentials you've earned:
- Name - Certification name (required)
- Issuer - Organization that issued the certification (required)
- Date - When you obtained it (required)
- Credential ID - ID or license number (optional)
- URL - Link to verify or view the credential (optional)
- Description - Additional details about the certification (optional)
Projects
Your work, portfolio pieces, or notable projects:
- Project Name - Name of the project (required)
- Description - What the project does and your role in it (optional)
- Technologies - Tech stack or tools used (optional)
- Start Date - When you started the project (required)
- End Date - When you finished (optional; leave blank if ongoing)
- Current Project - Check this if you're still working on it (optional)
- URL - Link to the project or repository (optional)
Skills
A curated list of your technical and soft skills:
- Skill Name - The skill (required)
- Proficiency Level - beginner, intermediate, advanced, or expert (optional)
Tip: Group related skills together and focus on those most relevant to your target roles.
Languages
Languages you speak:
- Language - Language name (required)
- Proficiency Level - native, fluent, intermediate, or basic (required)
Links & Social
Professional links and contact information:
- Label - What the link is (e.g., "GitHub", "Portfolio", "LinkedIn") (required)
- URL - The full link (required)
- Description - Optional note about the link (optional)
Managing Your Sections
Show or Hide Sections
In the Customize panel:
- Toggle any section on or off under Section Visibility
- Hidden sections won't appear on your exported PDF
- Your data is preserved — you can re-enable them anytime
Reorder Sections
In the Customize panel, click "Edit Section Order" to:
- Drag and drop sections into your preferred order
- Organize by importance for your target role
- Changes apply instantly to your preview
Tips for Effective Section Organization
- Lead with strength: Put your strongest sections first (usually Experience for most roles)
- Target the role: Reorder sections based on what the employer values
- Hide irrelevant content: Hide sections with no or weak content to keep your CV focused and clean
- ATS compatibility: Use standard section names and keep formatting consistent
